Data protection you can run yourself, with a DPO available when you need one

Starter lets a small team keep its own registers and prepare its own DP1 and DP2 filings, from $400 a year. A certified DPO is available on the plans that include one.

What a small team has to deal with

  • Licensing starts at 50 data subjects

Under SI 155 of 2024, Tier 1 covers controllers with 50 to 1,000 data subjects (SI 155 of 2024, section 6(1)(a)).
  • DPO certification has fees of its own

Training and certifying one person costs USD 1,280 in POTRAZ fees for a Zimbabwean citizen, before salary (SI 155 of 2024, Second Schedule, items 4 and 5). Whether you must appoint a Data Protection Officer depends on your tier and the data you hold. See who must appoint one.

Statutory figures as at 14 October 2026.
